Yamaha FG-33 II

This one’s been around the block a few times ... bought in Glasgow in 1981, played extensively on streets and in venues across Europe, it still has a great big, meaty sound. Recent refurbishment, i.e. replacement of 5 frets at three times the cost of the original guitar, means it is rattle-and-hum- free at last ...

Celebrity by Ovation CC57

Got this on ebay at a pretty good price, not really an Ovation, more a low-grade clone ... slight advantage using it as an electric comes from the smaller bowl, which helps manoeuvrability on tight stages ... sounds OK amplified (but needs new strings as at April 2009) ...

Yamaha APX500

Recent acquisition in an attempt to improve on the Ovation’s acoustic sound while still being able to just plug it in and get going ...
Plays nicely unelectrified, and the cutout improves the range of play ... Built-in tuner very handy for tone-deaf wannabes like me ...

Ovation Legend 1777

Always wanted one of these, even though real guitar freaks tend to look down on them more than just a little. I just like the shape, the easy conversion to electric-acoustic, and I think it looks pretty classy ... so there.

Fender Stratocaster
USA version, with original contour body, chocolate brown

The ultimate electric guitar, rivalled only by the Gibson Les Paul. Played by Hendrix, Clapton and almost anyone who was ever able to afford one ...
Sweet sound, lovely fretboard, adapts beautifully to all applied effects and ... just ... looks ... good ... a dream come true.
